…they could simplify the process by saying that you have to have “at least” 3 albums out, not mixtapes! Not necessarily the best, most popular, or gold status selling, but at least you haven’t given up on your art. With that said, Jadakiss, Drake, and Rick Ross would be off the list unfortunately. Hmmm!
Kinda amazing that Jay Z isn’t on the list. i can’t defend having drake on there, and not having Jay. I get that he’s be out for a while before 2000, but the past 10 years is when he really cemented himself as one of the greatest ever. And this is coming from someone who isn’t a Jay Z Fan!!

Can you people not read? It is the top 10 rappers since 1999, not since 1990. Jay and Nas have been at it before 1999. I still call bullshit on this list though, Drake just came out, there is no telling if he will last 3 yrs.
Again…Where is Jay Z? The genre of Rap music has many subdivisions. With “lyrical rappers” deserving the highest form of respect; since at its origins, Rap music was all about showcasing your “lyrical” skills (wordplay, metaphors…). To be fair, i’ll indulge into some “coon” rap from time to time like the rest of us. Nevertheless, I can’t help but cringe whenever I see a list where the likes of a Young Jeezy (“trap” rapper) would be compared to a Jay-Z or a Nas (“lyrical” rappers, A.K.A “real rappers”)…I’m just saying!

can you imagine a world in which BET is the foremost authority on a format that is dominated by black entertainers that no longer have a place on this station. rappers that are on this station have to settle for the “pop” shows to showcase any of their music. the “city” is gone. the “basement” is gone, what remains is “trl” spin off… really consider the f*ckery that had to play in creation of the show as a whole, and then watch the Boondocks episode in which huey subjected himself to unrelenting hours of this f*ckery… i would only hope that they don’t take a second stab at it next year…
