According to the Wall Street Journal, the positive response to Tupac’s hologram ghost could help bring a virtual Tupac tour to reality in the future. In related news, dead rappers rapping is the new money bag.

Reports Wall Street Journal:

Digital Domain Media Group Inc. is responsible for creating the “Tupac hologram,” which isn’t technically a hologram, because it’s a two-dimensional image.

“To create a completely synthetic human being is the most complicated thing that can be done,” Ed Ulbrich, Digital Doman’s chief creative officer told WSJ Monday.

At Coachella, the virtual Tupac performed his hits “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.”

“This is not found footage. This is not archival footage,” Ulbrich explained. “This is an illusion.” In fact, Dre met with Digital Domain a year ago and pitched the idea. Four months ago they began work on creating the virtual Tupac for Coachella.

“This is just the beginning,” Ulbrich added. “Dre has a massive vision for this.”
