An eye-opening new CDC study has found yet another widespread epidemic that is targeting the African-American Community.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the HIV epidemic is not the only thing that black people have to worry about. The CDC claims that nearly half (48 percent) of all African American women between the ages of 14 and 49 are infected with genital herpes.
Black women have the highest rate of infection and their rate is nearly twice as high as men. Overall, 21 percent of all women are infected, compared with 11.5 percent of men. For the black community, 39 percent of all African Americans are infected, compared with 12 percent for whites.
There is no cure for genital herpes (herpes simplex 2), which can cause recurring sores in the genitalia and increases the likelihood of HIV transmission. It is also related to oral herpes, or herpes simplex 1.
The CDC also says that a full 80 percent of those who have herpes have no idea that they’ve been infected. The CDC estimates that there are 19 million new herpes infections every year.

It Should Be Assumed Everyone Is Infected Black, White, Whatever & Go Get Tested & It Would Be No Ambiguity About It! But Y’all Don’t. Hear Me Though.
Well this is somewhat annoying. However black people are only 14 percent of the population. so really about the same amount of black women and white women are infected. If white people were 14 percent of the population, damn near all of them would be infected. People with herpes probably think its more of an annoyance than life threatening. Probably why they spread it like crazy. If it doesnt kill you it makes you stronger??
Instead of showing us a copy/past report from “Bossip” (Of All Things), how about uploading a photo of those statistics from an official CDC Document…
I felt that these so called “statistics” were questionable before but now I am convinced that they are part of a bigger effort to denigrate, vilify, and besmirch our race as a whole. Me, and my sisters all fall within this demographic (42, 46 and 48) and none of us have ANY sexually transmitted diseases. Nor do any of the African-Canadian or African-American women that I know (relatives, friends and/or acquaintances). This is just a way to perpetuate the “overtly- sexual black female myth”. It is just like all these statistics that say almost half our brothers are in jail, or murdering each other. Don’t believe the hype. You get enough of these “statistics” together on paper and they do not add up! I have also notice that these garbage statistics have increased in number ever since a brother became president and become more offensive the closer the election gets. If the statistics do apply to you, if you are living a high-risk lifestyle for whatever reason, do you but do better. Safety first. If these statistics do not apply to you good and don’t let them make you doubt other people of color that you see out and about. Hold your heads up, make eye contact with each other, and say hello to each other. Don’t let this negative propaganda bring us down. It is a mind game that has been going on for decades and it is meant to systematically make everyone else hate us and make us hate ourselves. Fight it!

Just because you don’t believe it, doesn’t make it not true. I guess next time CDC better check with you and your folk to make sure what they put out to the public is properly vetted. Hide your head in the sand if you like.
