Comedian D.L. Hughley Calls Lupe Fiasco “Dumb” For Not Voting

Lupe Fiasco has been vocal about his lack of faith in our political system, and President Obama, but according to comedian D.L. Hughley the rapper’s disposition is dangerous.

Comedian D.L. Hughley Calls Lupe Fiasco “Dumb” For Not Voting

Reports Hip Hop Wired:

Fiasco, who has taken the commander in chief to task on more than one occasion, announced that he has no plans of voting in the forthcoming election. In the eyes of Hughley, Fiasco has a lot to learn. “He’s bright as hell, but dumb in the weight of the world,” he said in an interview. “Young black men are going to listen to him. They are the ones who have decisions made for them, [decisions] that they are not even involved in, which is silly to me. You can’t go through life and not be a participant, and hope things work out for your benefit. When you vote or not vote, you are saying yes or no.

“They want to raise the age of social security from 65 to 68…Black men die at 67. Lupe Fiasco forgets that he’s going to be an old man when he’s looking for a social security check, and he dies right after he gets it.”

Although Fiasco is not prone to holding his tongue, he has admitted to being flawed. “I’m far from being a knowledgeable and wise young man as well,” he said during a recent performance. “I’m somewhere in the middle. I ain’t no saint either.”

For what it’s worth, Fiasco isn’t the only person in Hip-Hop who’s not afraid to say that they won’t vote. Kendrick Lamar also caused controversy for stating that he “doesn’t believe in voting.”

I see said the blind man. And now…

This is EbenGregory.com…telling you anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’ But you don’t hear me doe.

Voting between the lesser of two evils is stupid because you’re acknowledging that both choices are, in fact, evil. Give me somebody WORTH voting for and I’ll do it.

    Good Day,

It is not about My Candidate your Candidate its about Common sense… Wether the system runs dry or NOT what the heck about All That Time IN BETWEEN NOW AND THEN. You do matter, you do count, you do have a voice… Certain Entities try daily to make you feel powerless… I feel this dude is chocking it up to his personal powerlessness and inflicting that burden on the next generations to come.

We’re not talkin abt him as a musician, now Im talkin abt him as a public figure, idol to some. Keep his confusions and things he hasnt quite figured out yet to him self… But honestly I dont know why we’re talking about this… I cant take anything serious that one says in regards to the Commander in Chief, whose name has recently been associated as having Beef with someone named “Chief Keef” – again ppl Google Willie Lynch

I would rock with DL on this if his point wasn’t based off a system that’s forecast to be run dry by time our generation gets to the age where we would be able to benefit from it. So what if he votes for a candidate that he does agree with, but it’s not your candidate? Is he still dumb, or has he wasted a vote you wanted for your candidate?

I “Don’t Like” all these attacks against Lupe. For a non mainstream commercialized artist, he’s getting a lot of attention. Do you, Lupe!

  5. avatar Democracy says:

NO, THAT SHIT IS DUMB… Ignorant and a non factor like they want you to be, rep’s already trying to take away the priveledge to vote, that driven, motivated, and intelligent folks died to have the opportunity to have a voice, and you just gonna GIVE them what they want by not voting!? Like DL said, by voting or not voting, you are saying YES or NO, dont vote this year and you’ve basically said yes to Romney… Dont vote this year and U ARE basically A VOTE FOR ROMNEY. Better hope you have healthcare, better hope you or your fam is not on Welfare, bc Bye Baby if Romney should get enough votes or O not get enough… Think your stuntin bc youve got a LIL paper? NO, better hope you have Billionaire Status by the end of this year, bc the lil bit of luxury you have left since Bush we’ll be Saionara, and more folks caught up in Bills, Fines, unaffordable taxes, Jail, and RENTING… Romney said forget Broke a** homeowners and all the money some have invested in their homes… Take their houses and MAKE THEM RENT. If Romney or those like him & the Bushes get back in, Kiss Kansas G’Bye, you can really achieve some VERY undesirable results by not voting, and when you get them remember you SILENTLY ASKED for it. #ClosedMouthsDontGetFed and Lupe ( a great artist) NEEDS TO GET UP OFF HIS WILLIE LYNCH and see WHO HES REALLY CAMPAIGNING FOR. Voting is not going to go away bc a few Negroes dont turn in a ballots.

He’s entitled to his own opinion, but being on the public platform that he is, he needs to keep that confused, undecisive, not even knowing WHO HE REALLY IS YET – NEGATIVITY to himself, as it is sending a message to the next Awesome Generation of children that they dont count or matter. I dont need “lost one” (who is still growing himself) telling my kids that! That is some DUMB ish… Dumb like Spike Lee hating on Tyler Perry = Willie Lynch

lupe in my opinion is correct we need to shut down the machine and voting keeps the wheel rolling. we participate blindly in the horrors of geo- politics and sub human foreign policies imposed on so- called third world countries. dl hughley needs to look at the bigger picture because the buck does not stop at social ills within america . in my rick ross voice dl hughley is a mon-key

  7. avatar Eli Brown says:

D.L. needs to shut up. First of all it is Lupe’s right to vote or not to vote. Just because his political views don’t line up with D.L.’s doesn’t make Lupe dumb. In fact Lupe may be more enlightened than D.L. in his choice not to vote. Obama and Mitt are players on the same team when it comes right down to it, it just looks better to have a black man in office because we never had one of our own in the White House, and it’s easier for the “House Negro” to fall right in line and follow the agenda. “It may seem heaven sent, we ain’t ready to see a black president” Tupac
