First Shawty Lo and now this!

Reports IFWT:
Action figures inspired by the characters in Django Unchained have been discontinued after they caused too much controversy. Several groups spoke out against the toys including Project Islamic Hope and Al Sharpton’s National Action Network forcing the Weinstein Company to tell the toy manufacturer to axe the toys all together.
Fortunately for the company, they only released about a 1,000 of the action figures. The toy company has stated that they never intended to insult or offend anyone and had no problem stopping the production on the toys.
And now…
This is EbenGregory.com…telling you the only victories which leave no regret are those which are gained over ignorance.

In the response of the previous comments, can’t we all get along?…Both of you have valid points, that is what makes us unique, we can have a differentce opinion/opinions on a subject without trying to tear each other down..that’s my 2 cents.
I copped a couple playboy at like $40 .. They went up in price to like 600 a pop.. Made the best out of a bad situation.. Player move..
Movie about a freed slave getting his wife back “by any means necessary”. Don’t think for one minute there weren’t slaves whom killed their owners after enduring horrendous conditions in slave ships once they reached America and regained their strength.
There was also a Jewish Resistance during WWII (Inglourious Basterds)
The movie title was “Django UNCHAINED”
SOOOOOOOO GLAD THIS DIDN”T COME OUT!!! I was pissed when I first saw the movie until I read why Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. did it. The sadest thing I saw were the young black men of our future who felt nothing about the movie. The clapped and joked at the end when it really was nothing to joke about. That movie should have impacted young african americans like Passion of the Christ did to believers. For the ones who were in the theater with me…….. it ran right over there heads. Broke my heart because the movie shows what we as black americans have gone through and what we are doing now with the liberties and freedoms that we have now? We have fought each other to death, eaten by dogs, whipped, chained, raped, verbally abused, been told we are the scum of the earth. So where are we now? How far have we come?
If you haven’t seen the movie and you intend to, ask yourself what have you done in honor and respect for those who suffered and sacrificed to make sure we have freedom and liberty to do as we please today? What will you do? What is your impact? What do you intend to be your legacy? Make an impact!!
Whoa! Take the knife from your bleeding heart!!
Django is and was meant to be,the “black version of Machete” that is clearly based on The Catcher Freeman episode of “The Boondocks” series. In terms of this to-the-death combat you speak of, all my years of studying African American History, including those taught by my lawyer/PhD professor, have failed to provide an account “Slave Ultimate Fighting.”
I’m all for the importance of self representation but anyone willing to substitute the wholehearted directorship of a Quentin Tarantino movie for the the published accounts of the recognized experts of this time in history hasn’t quite found themselves yet and should not be reprimanded for missing out on the feigned subplot of a mindlessly entertaining three hour movie. If this was the case, then your time would be best spent on a soap box convincing people not to drink malt liquor based on the movie Black Dynamite.
So before you end a post with a handful of vague rhetorical questions designed to alert people of their inadequate strides toward a greater purpose right before they see “Django”, try instead to inspire those same people with positive reinforcement by bringing notice to the good character and accomplishments that you witness daily. You’ll be a more effective leader if you set the example.
FYI: My everyday duties are being a 28 yo (black) emergency physician serving a high need, low socioeconomic patient population in a small mid-western city… in case you were wondering.
