Damn Homey: Beanie Sigel Gets More Time For Drug Charge (Guess How Long Details)

Beanie Sigel released an album last year, This Time, but recently the Philadelphia rapper’s prison sentences have come more frequently than his hits. Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, was sentenced to six to 23 months in country prison yesterday after pleading guilty to unlawfully possessing Percocet.

As the Delaware County (Pennsylvania) Daily Times reports, Sigel has already been in jail since his arrest last August, when police found him asleep in the passenger seat of a car that was swerving. Police woke him up and, in a pat-down search, found a codeine syrup bottle, pills, and roughly $4,500 in cash. Police also found a loaded .38 caliber Smith and Wesson in the car. The driver, co-defendant Gerald Andrews, also pleaded guilty yesterday and was sentenced to 30 to 60 months at a state correctional institute.

Sigel is already serving a two-year federal sentence on tax evasion charges. It’s unclear whether the federal court will allow him to serve both sentences simultaneously.

The former State Property rapper, who came up appearing on songs with Jay-Z and other members of the Roc-A-Fella stable, has had his share of legal problems over the years. Sigel served two separate sentences in the 2000s on federal weapons charges.
