Kobe Bryant SETTLES With Mom In Memorabilia Suit

Kobe Bryant has ended his legal war with his mother … settling the lawsuit over his basketball memorabilia.

Reports TMZ:

As TMZ reported … Kobe went after his mother for trying to auction off jerseys, rings, trophies and scores of other items. Pamela Bryant claimed her son gave her the stuff, but Kobe claimed she was full of it and she was just pissed because he wouldn’t buy her an expensive house in Vegas.

Now Pamela and Kobe’s dad agreed to issue a letter of apology to the Lakers’ star, according to ESPN. In return Kobe agreed to let Pamela sell off just under 10% of the items.

So the legal issue is now resolved. As for family relations, we’re guessing that’s a whole other Oprah.

Petition Launched to Remove Tyler Perry’s New Shows from OWN: ‘Stop Supporting Racist Stereotypes!’

Uh, oh. Somebody’s Aunti and second cousin is none too pleased with Tyler Perry’s two new shows on Oprah’s OWN Network. And you know what we do when we don’t like something on TV, take our complaints and talents to Change.org.

Reports The Jasmine Brand:

So what’s the issue here? Last week, TP’s soap opera The Haves and The Have Nots, debuted earning 1.77 million viewers in its first hour and the second drawing 1.8 million viewers — the highest-rated debut in OWN network history. His second show, a comedy , Love Thy Neighbor followed with the second highest debut in the channel’s history, with 1.8 million viewers of its own.

But critics say despite ratings, they have serious beef with his content being heavily sexist, elitist and racially insensitive. The author of the petition writes:

For decades Oprah Winfrey has used her television show to educate, empower, and uplift people of all races to be better versions of themselves. OWN has committed to be an extension of this work. Where it is clear that neither Oprah or Tyler Perry are not experts on race and racism, they have also refused to utilize feedback from the conscious Black community and scholars on racism regarding the damage that Tyler Perry and his brand of entertainment perpetuate against the Black community. Stop supporting racist stereotypes on OWN and remove Tyler Perry programming!

With a little over 200 signatures, it doesn’t seem to be having much of an impact–yet. But what are your thoughts–do they have a point, in suggesting Tyler Perry’s content does’t belong on OWN? Or is this just another tired petition that has little to no merit?

Update: Bus Company Cancels ‘Ghetto’ Tours (Details)

A bus company has cancelled tours that promised tourists a glimpse into the seedier side of New York “from a safe distance.”

Reports Sandra Rose:

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the company, Real Bronx Tours, cancelled the tours amid outrage from local residents.

Three times a week, the $45 tour gave foreign visitors a glimpse at food lines, drug dealers chilling outside corner bodegas, seedy housing projects, and a park described as a pickpocket hangout.

The tour website described the Bronx as a borough that was “notorious for drugs, gangs, crime and murders.”

Residents say the tour was racist and misrepresented the “area where former Secretary of State Colin Powell and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor lived in as children,” according to the AJC.

“Those days are over, the Bronx is being rebuilt, it’s rising again,” said Bronx resident and Grammy-nominated musician Bobby Sanabria.

Most of the tenement slums in the Bronx before the 1980s were burned down intentionally by landlords looking for quick insurance payouts.

“We strongly urge you to stop profiting off of a tour that misrepresents the Bronx as a haven for poverty and crime, while mocking everything from our landmarks to the less fortunate members of our community who are availing themselves of food assistance programs,” wrote Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and City Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito in an open letter to the company owner, Michael Myers.

“We’ve had enough of the gawkers who come to ghettoize us,” said Al Quinones, caretaker of a community park. “Their timing was bad. The Bronx is not burning, not now! Now, it’s resurgence.”

The bus company did not return reporters’ requests for comments.

Less than 24 hours after Miguel turned into a household name with his memorable Billboard Music Awards mishap, former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan has offered his take.

Known for pulling off his own iconic leg drops in the ring, Hogan joined in on the laughs by poking fun at Miguel.

“MIGUELAMANIA at least he did it right brother. HH,” Hogan tweeted May 20th. (Hulk Hogan’s Twitter)

Almost immediately after the accident, various Hogan and wrestling comparisons were made.

It didn’t take long for the Miguel leg drop to gain comparisons to one of the more popular leg drops in the history of leg drops. Of course, it reminded many of Hulk Hogan and his finisher as one of the world’s most famous wrestlers used the move right before pinning his opponents for the three count. Now, here we have Miguel’s finishing touch on two fans. Wait, there’s something wrong right? Miguel, an R&B singer, was performing at the Billboard Awards. First Lady Michelle Obama is giving her two cents on the lack of priority that young African-American students place on higher education.

The FLOTUS recently addressed the graduating class of Bowie State University, which is one of many Historically Black Colleges, where she made it a point to stress the importance of going to college and commended the graduating class for beating the statistics.

First Lady Michelle Obama decided to trot out some very old talking points in her commencement address to the 2013 graduating class at Bowie State University:

“Today, instead of walking miles every day to school, they’re sitting on couches for hours, playing video games, watching TV. Instead of dreaming of being a teacher or a lawyer or a business leader, they’re fantasizing about being a baller or a rapper,” Obama continued.

“Right now, one in three African American students are dropping out of high school, only one in five African Americans between the ages of 25 and 29 has gotten a college degree.”

But priorities should change, she said, because “getting an education is as important if not more important than it was back when this university was founded.”

The first lady is known for keeping it 100 when she speaks, and this time was no exception.

Angelina Jolie Had Both Breasts Removed To Prevent Cancer (Details)

Angelina Jolie has had both of her breasts removed as a proactive measure to prevent breast cancer.

Reports Sandra Rose:

The 37-year-old actress made the announcement in an op-ed piece she wrote exclusively for today’s New York Times.

The Oscar-winning actress, who is in a long term relationship with actor Brad Pitt, said she underwent the double mastectomy after doctors found a gene that makes the probability of her developing breast cancer very high.

She said she made the choice with thoughts of her six children after watching her own mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, die at a young age from cancer.

Quoting her 6 children, Jolie writes, “They have asked if the same could happen to me.”
Jolie wrote that finding the “faulty” BRCA1 gene meant she had an 87 percent chance of developing breast cancer herself.

“My mother fought cancer for almost a decade and died at 56,” Jolie writes. “She held out long enough to meet the first of her grandchildren and to hold them in her arms. But my other children will never have the chance to know her and experience how loving and gracious she was.”

She added:
“I wanted to write this to tell other women that the decision to have a mastectomy was not easy. But it is one I am very happy that I made. My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 percent to under 5 percent. I can tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer.”

Jolie described the procedure as feeling like a scene out of a science fiction movie.

From The NY Times:

“My own process began on Feb. 2 with a procedure known as a ‘nipple delay,’” she writes, “which rules out disease in the breast ducts behind the nipple and draws extra blood flow to the area.”

She then describes the major surgery two weeks later where breast tissue was removed, saying it felt “like a scene out of a science-fiction film,” then writes that nine weeks later she had a third surgery to reconstruct the breasts and receive implants.”

Many women have chosen preventive mastectomy since genetic screening for breast cancer was developed, but the move and public announcement is unprecedented from a star so young and widely known as Jolie.

“I do not feel any less of a woman,” Jolie writes. “I feel empowered that I made a strong choice that in no way diminishes my femininity.”

A picture of Keef on the 500campaign’s Instagram feed this has sparked a debate over whether the teen has a place in an anti-violence movement. Keef, who’s real name is Keith Cozart, is often under fire for his violent and misogynist lyrics, and in a case of life imitating art, is currently on probation for pointing a gun at a police officer in 2011 and was just released from jail earlier this month on a probation violation. Twenty-eight-year-old Bryant Cross created the campaign, which asks ordinary Chicagoans to email him their head shots so he can add the slogan “Angry Because Over 500 Youth Were Murdered in Chicago” and post it to the feed. More than 1,200 pictures have been posted over the past few weeks, but a couple of days ago he received a photo of the rapper driving a top-down convertible next to a girl. (NBC Chicago)

The campaign’s leader, Bryant Cross, has fully stood behind Keef’s image.

The person who sent the picture claims he had Keef’s blessing, so Cross added the slogan and posted the picture to the feed. The picture prompted an immediate backlash, with most comments criticizing the decision to post a picture of the controversial rapper. Cross decided to take the picture down, but a day later decided to re-post it, along with an explanation of why he decided it needs to be there. “Chief Keef and brothers like him are the ones we should be engaging,” Cross told NBCChicago.com. “If you can’t look at a photo and not be hostile — there’s no hope. We have to be able to engage everyone, not just the people we like.” Cross says he doesn’t feel like the picture mocks his movement, rather “strengthens” it. (NBC Chicago)

Michael Jordan’s Wedding Still On! Love Child Claim Not Putting Ceremony On Hold

Michael Jordan‘s wedding to his model fiancée Yvette Prieto is still set to go ahead next month, despite new claims he has a 16-year-old love child.

The retired basketball star is being sued by Pamela Smith, 48, who says she got pregnant after sleeping with him in 1995 when he was still married to his first wife, Juanita Vanoy.

But RadarOnline.com can reveal the alleged indiscretion hasn’t hindered his plans to wed his Cuban-American bride.

April 27 is the date when they’ll walk down the aisle. The lavish ceremony will reportedly take place in South Florida, most likely at Jordan’s mansion on Jupiter island. His neighbor and good friend Tiger Woods is expected to attend.

In the lawsuit filed in Fulton County, Ga., on February 6 Smith is demanding Jordan pay child support for Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds – known as Taj – as well as his medical expenses.

In addition to monetary gain Smith wants a paternity test to prove the celebrated sportsman is her son’s father.

The teenage boy posted a video on Youtube in December 2012 claiming Jordan is his dad.

He said: “I have some exclusive, exclusive information I feel like everybody should know. If you’ve been hearing any rumors about Michael Jordan’s son on Twitter, Instagram any of that – it’s true.”

TIGER WOODS and ex-wife ELIN NORDEGREN have reunited in a trial marriage – at their kids’ request!

News of the reconciliation leaked out when the disgraced golfer was photographed with Elin, their daughter Sam, 5, and son Charlie, 4, in Florida recently.

But insiders reveal that the couple patched things up after Sam begged Elin, 33, to let her cheating ex come back home.

“Tiger and Elin have been secretly discussing getting back together for several weeks,” a source told The ENQUIRER.

“The final straw came when Sam begged Elin, ‘Please, Mommy, marry Daddy again! I want him home with us all the time!’

“It touched Elin’s heart. Since then, she’s spent the night at Tiger’s house several times, but they’re taking it slow.

“Elin wants to ease back into the relationship before she walks down the aisle with Tiger again.”

The couple’s five-year marriage blew up in November 2009 after The ENQUIRER exposed Tiger’s affair with New York party girl Rachel Uchitel, prompting a parade of bimbos to reveal their sexual flings with the randy golf champ.

“After that, Elin refused to even look at Tiger, saying the sight of him made her sick,” said the source. “Nannies and bodyguards delivered their two kids back and forth for visitation. But Tiger has never given up trying to win Elin back, and eventually, she softened enough to speak with him.”

Tiger, 37, forked over a reported $110 million in the couple’s divorce, but as The ENQUIRER has reported, he’s offered to sign a $200 million no-cheating prenuptial agreement if Elin would marry him again.

The Swedish beauty countered with a demand that he cough up $350 million – more than half of his $600 million fortune – in a no-cheat prenup before she’d even consider saying “I do” again.

“Instead of crushing Tiger’s hopes, Elin’s offer rekindled them,” the source added. “For the first time, he began to believe there was a real possibility that Elin might take him back.”

Mega video-sharing website YouTube has reportedly started removing visuals from nine-year-old rapper Lil Poopy in light of the backlash he has received over the controversial footage.

According to reports, YouTube started removing Poopy’s clips yesterday (February 26).

YouTube on Tuesday removed one of the videos showing the boy, saying “its content violated YouTube’s Terms of Service.” In that video, titled “Lil Poopy getting it in,” the boy stood behind a female, who was bent over, and repeatedly slapped her buttocks. Adults in a nightclub crowd cheered the boy on during a simulated sex situation with the female on a dance floor. A man was seen telling the boy to slap the female, who was bent over, on the buttocks. She then gyrated against the boy, and lifted his shirt. (Enterprise)

The Poopy controversy turned into a hot topic earlier this week after child welfare authorities were called in.

The child, Luie Rivera Jr., whose stage name is “Lil Poopy,” is seen in videos posted online, including on YouTube, smacking a woman’s backside, flashing wads of cash, riding in a Ferrari and rapping about how “coke is not a bad word.” A separate video shows the young performer in a nightclub with a dancing woman in a sexually suggestive position, with people in the crowd throwing cash. The Brockton, Massachusetts, police department contacted the state’s Department of Children and Families after receiving a call from a “concerned citizen” who saw the boy in videos featuring sexual themes and drug references. Despite the dicey content, the little rapper’s father has reportedly stood behind the campaign and hired an attorney.

Brockton police said Monday they haven’t filed criminal charges or arrested Luis Rivera, the father of fourth-grader Luie Rivera Jr., who goes by the stage name Lil Poopy. “I find this absolutely absurd. I find it racially tinged. And I’m hoping that when their department takes a look at it, that this doesn’t go any further,” Rivera’s attorney Joseph Krowski said. A Department of Children and Families spokeswoman confirmed that officials are looking into concerns about the young rapper’s welfare. “If you watch the videos, there are absolutely no crimes being committed,” said Krowski. “He’s very adjusted, he gets good grades. He participates in extra-curricular activities. School always comes first. He just happens to have a God-given exceptional talent.” (WCVB)

Police File Complaint Against Father Of 9-Year-Old Lil Poopy, Over Rapper’s Explicit Content (Video)

Police in Brockton, Mass. have had enough of 9-year-old rapper, Lil Poopy.

Instead of focussing on school, playing video games, or whatever else children involve themselves in these days, the youngster stars in music videos deemed s*xually explicit; including one which shows him slapping the backside of a grown woman.

A “51A” report has been filed with the state, and allows DCF to investigate the claims, if necessary.

Poopy, real name Luis Rivera Jr., is only in the fourth grade, but his father could be found guilty of child abuse over his musical dreams. The child has taken the stage alongside the likes of Sean “Diddy” Combs, and recorded a remix to French Montana’s “Pop That” single. In the video for his interpretation of Montana’s hit, the little boy is seen riding in a Ferrari before the driver, yet another grown woman, gets out to clean the tires and bend over for the camera.

Given his tiny voice, and age, his lyrics are so ridiculous they shouldn’t be taken seriously, but authorities believe that legal action is in order. “It’s a bit much for a 9-year-old. It warrants the attention of the Department of Children and Families,” said police Lt. David Dickinson.

According to the child’s father, Luis Rivera Sr., his son “is not doing anything wrong” in the videos. The 30-year-old went on to state that the child is just “acting.” When questioned about Poopy slapping the butt of a grown woman, he likened the move to a game of baseball. “When you hit a home run, when you go to the bleachers, they tap you on the butt.”

Aside from the police, others who have viewed Poopy’s music video don’t share in his father’s sentiments. “It’s disgusting,” commented Ollie Jay Spears, a married father of three and community activist in Brockton. After reading a 1-page feature on Poopy in the local newspaper, Spears Googled the child and came upon his YouTube videos. “With the girl bent over and the other girl grinding into him. A 9-year-old with stacks of money and rapping about glorifying the drug trade, and demeaning women? A kid at the third- or fourth-grade level, talking about coke? It’s not entertaining. That’s borderline child abuse.”

Poopy isn’t the only young person under fire over their rap aspiration. The music of 13-year-old Chicago rapper, Lil Mouse has also been called into question.

NFL Considering Widening The Playing Field By 35 Feet (Details)

The NFL reportedly might consider widening the playing field to Canadian Football League standards.

The National Football Post reported that the league has talked about widening the field sideline-to-sideline from 160 feet to 195 feet, which is the CFL standard, and the league might look into the idea again this offseason.

The National Football Post said the competition committee discussed the idea a year ago. In theory, a wider field would be safer for a league that has much bigger and faster players than it did decades ago.

“I’m not so sure we shouldn’t think about widening the field,” former competition committee member Bill Polian told the National Football Post. “It’s a radical idea, but I think it’s worth thinking about. You would have more space and perhaps a safer game. I say that based on my CFL experience. There are less collisions of that type in the Canadian game.”

The idea of a wider field is radical, and although the league needs to improve player safety, it seems like changing the dimensions of the field would take a lot of convincing to a league that doesn’t make major modifications very often.

The National Football Post story made the counter-argument that the wider field might not necessarily help player safety, because players would have more room to build up speed and have bigger collisions.

There would be many logistical issues. Many stadiums were built with the 160-foot wide field in mind, with every foot of possible room used for seats that generate revenue. Widening the field by more than 10 yards might make the playing area inside the stands a bit snug. Also, for teams that use the fields for college or high school state playoff games, converting between the two would be a difficult task. Also, there’s the fact that it’s hard to imagine the NFL changing one of the basic foundations of the game after so many years with the same size field. The last change this drastic might be when the league moved the goal posts from the goal line to the back of the end zone in 1974.

Changing the width of the field would be a major change to the game, and while it doesn’t logically seem very likely to happen soon, the NFL needs to look at every possibility to quell the negative publicity over player safety issues.

This is the first single off of my upcoming album. My family and my second family (consisting of the best friends anybody could ever have) all struggled and worked extremely hard to make all this happen. Deion Sanders Angry At Daughter Joining Bikini Sports League

Legendary footballer Deion Sanders isn’t happy that his daughter just joined the Bikini Basketball League, playing alongside women who have played in the WNBA and overseas.

While they don’t actually play in bikinis, and actually don shorts and sports bras, Deion still isn’t pleased about his daughter’s decision.

Deiondra talked to Jeff Sammut of 590 The Fan in Toronto, revealing “My dad was kind of upset, but that’s like any parent who just sees bikini league. He thought I was gonna be out there in a bikini. He [saw] a picture of our uniform and stuff like that, so I think once he saw that we’re actually covered up a little bit, he wasn’t as concerned.”

Deiondra, who will be repping the Atlanta Peaches, also took some time to trash talk the Bikini Football League, claiming the basketball league has more talent.

“I just think that it’s a lot different because we actually do have players, real basketball players, that actually have played in the WNBA before. So I think that this will make a difference because people are really gonna see real-life hoopers. They just look good while doing it.”

‘Entourage’ Movie Given The Green Light

After years of speculation, an Entourage movie is officially happening. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. have green lighted a big-screen adaptation of the popular HBO series.

Reports Miss Info:

The movie will be directed by Doug Ellin, who wrote the screenplay, while Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson will serve as executive producers. The studio are said to be negotiating deals to bring back original cast members, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven.

According to Huffington Post, the movie will pick up six months after the ending of season eight, where neurotic agent Ari Gold (played by Piven) was faced with the tough decision of taking up his dream job as the chairman of Time Warner or saving his marriage. There’s currently no word on when filming will start or when the movie will be released.

A teaser clip of Uncle Ruckus waving a confederate flag was posted on the Facebook page and at UncleRuckusmovie.com, receiving mixed reactions from the over 6 Million followers. Several fans (including this writer) pointed out that they’d already seen a live action Uncle Ruckus in Samuel Jackson’s portrayal of the self-hating slave Stephen in “Django Unchained,” (despite Jackson’s insistence that they are not the same).

Allen Iverson’s manager (Gary Moore) has begun to look for off-the-court opportunities. One of those could be as a consultant in Philly.

“Moore was in Philadelphia visiting with Sixers owner Josh Harris and CEO Adam Aron about reconnecting Iverson with the 76ers. Iverson led the Sixers to the 2001 NBA Finals and is cemented as one of the franchise’s all-time great players. He is the franchise leader in 40-point games (76) and three-pointers (885), and is second behind Hal Greer in points (19,931). He had two stints with the Sixers, and last played for them in 2009-10.

Moore said there are no immediate plans for the 37-year-old Iverson to retire. ‘Once he does do that, I want to ensure that Josh Harris and Adam Aron know how much Allen appreciates what Philadelphia has meant to him, what the NBA has meant to him,’ Moore said, ‘and to someday come back and be a consultant to them, to help them do certain things.’”

Back in September rapper 50 Cent’s baby mama Shaniqua Thompkins joined the cast of Starter Wives, a new reality show that promised to dish dirt on several of your favorite celebrities. Yeah, that’s not going to happen.

Lamar Odom has no problem with his ex being on a reality show and talking about their sex life, but RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that rapper 50 Cent refused to let his ex star on the same show!

Starter Wives is a new TLC reality show that will focus on six women who have dated, been married to and have children with famous men, but the show was originally taped with seven women.

“Shaniqua Tompkins started out taping and was really a great on the show, but after she started 50 Cent got mad and made her stop,” a source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com.

The rapper, real name Curtis Jackson, decided after filming began that he didn’t want her to reveal anything about his personal life or their child on the show, so he pulled the plug.

“Shaniqua had already filmed a lot for the show, but she didn’t want to fight with Curtis so she decided to bow out of the show before things got ugly.”

She is the rapper’s ex-girlfriend and mother of his son, but the two were never married and have not been getting along in recent years.

Shaniqua told Bossip.com that their relationship “has its ups and downs. It’s a hard relationship to explain. He’s a bitter man, very bitter.”

50 Cent’s rep did not respond to a request from Radar for a comment.

Starter Wives premieres on January 29 at 9pm on TLC.

Black People Rejoice: ‘Django Unchained’ Toys Discontinued

Action figures inspired by the characters in Django Unchained have been discontinued after they caused too much controversy. Several groups spoke out against the toys including Project Islamic Hope and Al Sharpton’s National Action Network forcing the Weinstein Company to tell the toy manufacturer to axe the toys all together.

Fortunately for the company, they only released about a 1,000 of the action figures. The toy company has stated that they never intended to insult or offend anyone and had no problem stopping the production on the toys.

Before his show could even see the light of prime time, Oxygen has canceled the rapper’s “All My Babies’ Mamas” show due to constant pressure.

After defending the show once it started the very short lived publicity campaign, the Oxygen network has put the kibosh on ATL drug honcho turned rapper Shawty Lo’s made-for-foolywang “All My Babies’ Mamas.” That’s right. You won’t be seeing 10 women, who are all mothers to Shawty Lo’s kids, play out their foolish, sad or cringe worthy behavior while Shawty stays in the middle being equally foolish and getting praised for it.

The Daily Beast says their sources say Oxygen will announce cancellation any day now. Interestingly, the network first defended the show by saying, “It was not meant to be a stereotypical representation of everyday life for any one demographic or cross section of society.’’

Oh really? Interesting.

The creator of the petition, Sabrina Lamb, worked to stop the show from airing. She stated in the petition (the gist of it) that the show would be a horrific example of life for a certain “group” of people. She told the Daily Beast:

“I love that the people who’ve signed the petition are from all backgrounds, ages, and countries. This one elderly white man wrote me and said even he was tired of the stereotypical images of black people.’’

“This show is about more than a rapper and his girlfriends. This is a show about kids who had no choice in how they came into the world. This show sets them up to be ridiculed and made fun of. None of us should be OK with that.’’

She said on her Facebook page today:

My entire statement will be announced tomorrow (outlining all of our victories) at the press conference and posted here at 12:00 noon-ish. Until then, I thank all 38,000 supporters who stood up for our children and said, “Enough Is Enough!” Oxygen Media awoke a sleeping GIANT!!

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant and his wife, Vanessa, say they are calling off their divorce. On another note, one advantage of marriage is that, when you fall out of love with him or he falls out of love with you, it keeps you together until you fall in again.

Reports CNN:

On Friday, Vanessa Bryant’s Instagram page had a message reading: “We are pleased to announce that we have reconciled. Our divorce action will be dismissed. We are looking forward to our future together.”
Kobe Bryant posted a message on his Facebook page the same day.

“I am happy to say that Vanessa and I are moving on with our lives together as a family,” he posted. “When the show ends and the music stops, the journey is made beautiful by having that someone to share it with. Thank you all for your support and prayers.”

Vanessa Bryant filed for divorce in December, citing irreconcilable differences.

The divorce filing came nearly 10 years after she famously stuck by him after he admitted to having sex with a woman at a Colorado hotel.

Their marriage was thrust into the spotlight when the desk clerk at a Vail-area resort hotel told police that Kobe Bryant had sexually assaulted her in 2003.

The Eagle County District Attorney filed charges against Bryant shortly after the accusation. At the time, Vanessa Bryant sat by her husband’s side as he publicly apologized to her while admitting that he’d had consensual sex with the 19-year-old.

Turning to his wife, Bryant said, “You’re a piece of my heart. You’re the air I breathe. And you’re the strongest person I know. And I’m so sorry for having to put you through this, for having to put our family through this.”

Criminal charges against Bryant were later dismissed. He settled a federal lawsuit with his accuser in 2005.
The couple have two daughters together.

Radio Personality DJ Envy Pours Heart Out To Wife…On The Air (Audio)

When you’re famous and your spouse becomes fed up with your antics, all you can do is apologize…publicly. Or not.

Well, that’s the route New York radio personality DJ Envy took with his wife, Gia.

On Friday during Power 105′s Breakfast Club, co-host Charlamagne Tha God was awarding his daily “Donkey of the Day Award.” To the surprise of listeners, the award went to fellow Breakfast Club host DJ Envy, with Charlamagne saying, “Something is off. You’re looking stressed, you’re balling up in the corner in the fetal position, your radio/dj game is off…I know I gotta talk to my friend. Whatever personal issues which are causing you to age drastically, like you listen to Adele records…I’m asking as a friend if you need some personal time off. Why has your game been off?”

After a “pregnant pause,” DJ Envy revealed: “Shout to my wife. I been with my wife 18 years and sometimes you don’t treat the person well. You think they’ll always be there. Its been a point where I’ve treated my wife like ish. It has to do with the small things you don’t do anymore.”

As the show continued, Envy went on to reveal that he’s gotten to the point where he doesn’t appreciate her and has taken her for granted. Further, in a shaky voice, he revealed that he buys Gia things versus complimenting her or taking her out and making her feel like a wife. In an attempt to make the situation better, he decided to call his “queen” on the air. He then told her that he knows he’s not been there for her, hes’ not been honest or loyal and he regrets everything he’s done to her and sincerely apologizes for everything. At the end of the conversation, a seemingly shocked Gia told Envy she loved him as well and to call her when he was off the radio.

Whatever Envy has done to his wife (and there are many things you can assume based on his apology alone), he seems to really feel bad about it now. The hope is that this was a very sincere apology, especially since they have two children together and almost 20 years together (they were high school sweethearts). However, with the Breakfast Club in a ratings war with Hot 97′s Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg morning show as well as Gia allegedly joining the cast of Real Housewives of New Jersey, there’s a chance this was all for publicity and better ratings. There’s no question that in a local radio war, listeners will opt to listen to the station that makes them feel like they can relate to them.

Perhaps we’ll see when RHONJ airs this summer where they are in their relationship. Marriage is hard and since Envy seems to know that he is solely to blame, we hope he does his best to get his family back together and the chips fall where they should.

A New York woman named Sabrina Lamb has taken to Change.org to gather up signatures in hopes of stopping the show from premiering.

Petitioning Oxygen Media, Electus and DiGa Vision Oxygen Media, Electus and DiGa Vision: Cancel Shawty-Low show and all programming which demeans black children, girls/women and stereotypes black men!!! These companies profit by humiliating girls and women by promoting degrading images. They have gone too far and we are boycotting their advertisers. (Change)

In the petition, directed toward Oxygen Media, Lamb points out the negative impact the series could have toward women in local communities.

“Cancel Shawty-Low show and all programming which demeans girls and women!!! Our Children…our Community… Deserves Better. Ban This Poison. Ban This Television Show. Oxygen Television Network is prepared to broadcast a one hour special celebrating the dysfunction of rapper Shawty Lo…watched by his 11 children…by 10 different women…(some may have been underage) as they….argue, beg, fight for emotional, financial support and sexual reward. What is the difference between this ministrel show and the others which clog the airwaves without proper balance of the beauty and positive aspects of our community?? The children.” (Petition)

She furthermore vows to take her actions to the next level by going after the show’s advertisers if nothing changes.

Details of the projected spring 2013 new reality show bubbled online this week.

Oxygen Media has ordered what they’re describing as a “daring” (according to their press release) new 1-Hour special titled All My Babies’ Mamas, which will premiere next spring. The project will center on the complicated lives of one man, his many women, and their many children. Breaking: Evelyn Lozada REUNITES With Chad Johnson To Drop Restraining Order (Court Room Video)

Evelyn Lozada came face to face with her ex-husband Chad Johnson this morning — the first time since his domestic violence arrest back in August — and offered the NFL star a HUGE olive branch.

Reports TMZ:

Evelyn and Chad both appeared in a Florida courtroom … where Evelyn asked the judge to drop the restraining order that was placed against him after she told police he headbutted her during an argument.

After the incident, Evelyn quickly filed for divorce from Chad — after just one month of marriage.

Chad has been on a tour of contrition on TV and the Internet ever since … apologizing left and right … and admitting he has an anger problem. Chad also revealed that he’s getting professional help to deal with his rage issues.

During the court hearing, the judge asked Evelyn if she had been threatened or coerced into making the request to drop the order … to which she replied, “No.”

The judge also asked if she was afraid of Chad … and she also replied, “No.”

The judge granted Evelyn’s request.

Sources connected to Evelyn tell TMZ … the “Basketball Wives” star isn’t sure where the relationship will go, but at the very least, she wants to start talking to him again.

Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West is reportedly close to hiring former Def Jam president and music mogul Lyor Cohen to help manage his career.

While nothing is set in stone just yet, reports of the likely partnership have started buzzing online.

GO WEST, BIG MAN: Lyor Cohen is said to be closing in on a deal to manage Kanye West. But rather than replacing Kanye’s current manager, Izvor “Izzy” Zivkovic, Cohen will likelymake Izzy part of a bigger play, according to insiders. Is Kevin Liles involved?

The news comes just weeks after Cohen left his executive position at Warner Music Group.

Phil Jackson met with Los Angeles Lakers brass to discuss the possibility of returning to the team for a third time as head coach.

Reports The Urban Daily:

According to analysts on ESPN it is only a matter of time before the Zen master is back on the sidelines in Hollywood. Jackson is reportedly asking for a salary similar to the one he was earning during his last go-round (about $10 million a year), more input on basketball decisions and travel restrictions that would limit the amount of road games he would attend.

Phil walked away from the Lakers after the 2011 season on his own accord, albeit with a bad taste in his mouth losing in a sweep to Dallas, amidst a slew of health issues. Jackson who has won six titles with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and the Chicago Bulls, and five titles (three in a row with Shaquille O’Neal & Kobe Bryant and two with Kobe and Pau Gasol) with the Lakers has to be intrigued by the current roster. This week, the public divorce drama between former NFL’er Deion Sanders and his estranged wife, Pilar, continues. Wednesday morning, both sides returned to court for a judge to address the couple’s prenuptial agreement. Here’s a brief backstory on their prenuptial agreement. The attorney representing Pilar 1999, said that Deion agreed to give her an additional $100,000 in a “signing bonus” for their prenuptial agreement. Deion allegs that Pilar requested the bonus in order to sign the prenuptial agreement. The 1999 attorney that was involved in their agreement, said that he was present when the couple entered into the agreement. The agreement was signed on April 19, 1999. The couple married two days later. Fast forward to the present day and Pilar wanted the agreement to be thrown out, but in order for it to be thrown out, she (Pilar) would have had to prove fraud, or that she was forced into signing the agreement. Long story short, Wednesday afternoon, the judge ruled the prenup will stand. Now what? Deion continues to have temporary custody of his two sons (he’s had them since May), while Pilar keeps their daughter. Deion has also been ordered to pay $4,500 monthly in child support.

U.S. Sues Bank Of America For $1 Billion Over “Hustle” Mortgage Fraud

The United States filed a fraud lawsuit against Bank of America Corp, accusing it of causing taxpayers more than $1 billion of losses by selling thousands of toxic mortgage loans to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Reports Reuters:

Wednesday’s case, originally brought by a whistleblower, is the U.S. Department of Justice’s first civil fraud lawsuit over mortgage loans sold to the big mortgage financiers, bailed out in 2008.

It also compounds the legal problems that Bank of America Chief Executive Brian Moynihan faces over the second-largest U.S. bank’s disastrous July 2008 purchase of Countrywide Financial Corp, once the nation’s largest mortgage lender.

According to a complaint filed in Manhattan federal court, Countrywide in 2007 invented and Bank of America continued a scheme known as the “Hustle” to speed up processing of residential home loans.

The program, also known as HSSL for “High Speed Swim Lane,” operated under the motto “Loans Move Forward, Never Backward,” and tried to eliminate “toll gates” designed to ensure that loans were sound and not tainted by fraud, the government said.

The program removed underwriters from all but the riskiest loans and replaced them with loan specialists, previously considered unqualified even to answer borrower questions.

This led to “defect rates” approaching 40 percent, roughly nine times the industry norm, but Countrywide concealed this from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and even awarded bonuses to staff to “rebut” the problems being found, the government added.

Defaults and foreclosures soared, yet the bank has resisted buying back many of the defaulted loans from the scheme, which ran through 2009, the government added.

“The fraudulent conduct alleged in today’s complaint was spectacularly brazen in scope,” U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara in Manhattan said. “Countrywide and Bank of America made disastrously bad loans and stuck taxpayers with the bill.”

Wednesday’s lawsuit seeks civil fines, as well as triple damages under the federal False Claims Act, which the government has used several times in recent years against Wall Street.

Lawrence Grayson, a bank spokesman, said in response to the lawsuit: “Bank of America has stepped up and acted responsibly to resolve legacy mortgage matters. The claim that we have failed to repurchase loans from Fannie Mae is simply false. At some point, Bank of America can’t be expected to compensate every entity that claims losses that actually were caused by the economic downturn.”

In February, Bank of America agreed to a $1 billion settlement of False Claims Act allegations over home loans submitted for insurance by the Federal Housing Administration, in a case from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Brooklyn, New York.

Kardashians Banned From Living And Filming In South Beach By Neighbors

Filming has begun as Kourtney & Kim Take Miami -– but this time they won’t be living anywhere near glamorous South Beach.

According to Belle Isle Blog, the Kardashian’s hopes of renting a beach home on the Sunset Islands, DiLidi Island and on North Bay Road were blocked by irate neighbors who didn’t want the hassle of having the reality-TV stars on their doorstep.

The family needed signatures from immediate neighbors of the prospective homes they wanted to use for a three-month period of non-stop filming – and a support of 90 percent of homeowners within 500 feet.

However, most residents kicked up a stink – complaining that the film crews and paparazzi would prove a disruption to their normally tranquil neighborhoods.

It has meant that Kourtney, Kim and Khloe – who has been filming with her older sisters – have had to settle for a base nearly 14 miles away from trendy South Beach in gloomy North Miami Beach.

“They found a gated community in North Miami Beach,” Raul Gonzalez of Miami Beach’s Office of Film and Print confirmed.

But despite their abode being in a desirable gated community, RadarOnline.com has learned the area the 51,000 square-feet property is far from safe.

“The area is known for its hourly hotels, strip clubs and high crime rate,” a source revealed.

“It’s a far-cry from their usual posh digs, with just a 7-Eleven and an abandoned old bank close by.”

On Wednesday, filming for Kourtney & Kim Take Miami got underway – with the two protagonists taking the eldest sister’s kids, Mason and Penelope to the Wizard of Oz interactive exhibit at the Miami Children’s museum.

The new season is set to premiere in January 2013.

Judge to ‘The Bachelor’: You Don’t HAVE To Cast Black People

A judge has THROWN OUT a lawsuit that two black men filed against “The Bachelor” … in which they claimed they were rejected from the show based on the color of their skin.

Reports TMZ:

In the original suit, the men pointed out that every bachelor in the show’s history has been white — and claim producers intentionally stayed away from people of color because they feared an interracial relationship would alienate the show’s “predominantly white viewership.”

But a Tennessee judge has officially dismissed the case — citing the 1st Amendment (Freedom of Speech) … and explaining that the court cannot tell TV producers … or movie producers … or playwrights … how to cast a production.

In fact, the judge explains that Freedom of Speech is why “The Cosby Show” could have an all-black cast … why “Jersey Shore” can cast all-Italians … and why “Shahs of Sunset” can cast all-Persians.

A rep for Warner Bros. — which produces the show — tells TMZ, “We felt from the onset this case was completely without merit and we are pleased the Court has found in our favor.”

The Kardashians’ annual Christmas card photo shoot is a family tradition for the famous clan. But this year’s shoot has family matriarch Kris Jenner furious.

The reason? In Touch has exclusively learned that Kourtney Kardashian’s boyfriend and father of their two children, Scott Disick, bailed on the shoot for a Vegas appearance at a nightclub where he was seen smoking and drinking all night.

“When Kourtney told Kris that Scott wasn’t going to make it to the shoot, Kris began raising her voice,” says a witness to the Sept. 30 conversation at the gym. “She couldn’t believe how disrespectful it was. Kim added he obviously didn’t care.”

Scott is supposed to be PhotoShopped on to the card but can’t even make time to get to his photo taken, an insider tells In Touch. With Scott’s behavior becoming more erratic, Kris has had no trouble telling Kourtney what she thinks of his lack of respect for the family.

“She told Kourt to have some control over her boyfriend and said, ‘How am I not supposed to be livid?’” the witness tells In Touch. “She said, ‘Scott keeps messing up over and over again.’”

A “flop” is a player exaggerating contact made during a play in order to get a foul called by the official. NBA Reveals Flopping Penalties (Details)

The NBA officially adopted an anti-flopping policy Wednesday, announcing a new rule that will fine repeat offenders this season.

Reports IFWT:

Any player who flops during a regular-season game will be subject to a series of penalties, beginning with a warning for first-time violators. After the warning, players will be fined in increments of $5,000 for each additional flop over the course of the season. The fines increase to $30,000 for a fifth offense.

The NBA stated it would consider suspending any player who violates the anti-flopping rule more than five times in the regular season. The league said it will announce at a later date a separate set of penalties for flopping during the postseason.

“Flops have no place in our game,” Stu Jackson, the NBA’s executive vice president of basketball operations, said in a written statement. “They either fool referees into calling undeserved fouls or fool fans into thinking the referees missed a foul call.

“Accordingly, both the Board of Governors and the Competition Committee felt strongly that any player who the league determines, following video review, to have committed a flop should — after a warning — be given an automatic penalty.”

The league defined flopping as “any physical act that appears to have been intended to cause the referees to call a foul on another player” in an official release.

NFL Gives Into Public Pressure, Brings Back Regular Officials (Details)

My fellow Americans, our brief national nightmare is over – the NFL’s regular referees are headed back to work.

Reports Yahoo:

After three weeks of blown calls, no calls and reversed calls; of physical contact and verbal intimidation; of confused Vegas bookmakers and infuriated fantasy players; and less than 48 hours after what is perhaps the most bizarre ending to a football game not involving a Stanford trombone player, the NFL and the NFL Referees Association reached an agreement Wednesday.

“Our officials will be back on the field starting [Thursday] night,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement, referring to the Cleveland Browns-Baltimore Ravens contest.

Meanwhile, the much derided replacement refs can return to the ball fields of Division III, junior college and the lingerie league.

We’re sure Bill Belichick sends his regards.

Score this one for public pressure, as the NFL, under intense scrutiny and criticism, finally acknowledged that the job of referee isn’t just a replaceable occupation. As a tidal wave of tumult grew over the season’s first three weeks – capped by Sunday and Monday nights’ nationally-broadcast embarrassments – the league’s hypothesis that it could pretty much round up anyone off the street, put them in striped shirts and the game would go on fine was over.

So the NFL, despite plenty of posturing and hardline talk to the end – what would a labor fight be without that – made a deal.

The refs will meet in Dallas on Friday and Saturday to ratify the eight-year contract and pick up their equipment and assignments. The pension deal they fought to preserve will remain for the next five years, according to reports, then it goes to 401Ks. There is a four percent pay raise.

The rest no one cares about. No one ever cared about any of it actually.

This was never about who won or who lost a labor deal. Until the lockout, few people knew or cared that the refs even had a union.

In the end, the NFL was battling over $3.3 million per year in pension payouts. That was a meager $103,125 per team per year for a $9 billion-plus industry. The entire “labor dispute” would have been comedic except players, coaches and fans wondered when it would be their team intercepting a Hail Mary and losing the game anyway.

Manny Pacquiao Will Take 45% Share vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s 55% (Details)

Manny Pacquiao is now saying he will accept just 45% of the total purse in an anticipated super-fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. next year.

Reports LA Times:

“Win or lose, I’ll take 45%,” Pacquiao told his publicist Friday in Mexico City. “Floyd can have top billing, he can be introduced in the ring first or last.

“He can wear my trunks. I don’t care. I just want to get him in the ring and make the fight.”

Pacquiao first said during an ESPN appearance Thursday that he was willing to take the 45% cut.

Pacquiao’s advisor, Michael Koncz, tried to clarify to The Times on Friday that the boxer was willing to accept a deal in which the winner would receive 55% and the loser gets 45%. That’s the same deal Koncz was extending to Mayweather in the spring.

Yet Pacquiao told publicist Fred Sternburg on Friday that he would take the flat 45% purse regardless of the outcome. Pacquiao has previously said he’d also submit to drug testing up to “the day of the fight.”

“I don’t know what more he can do,” Sternburg said, as Pacquiao and his Dec. 8 opponent Juan Manuel Marquez appeared before an estimated crowd of 20,000 in Mexico to promote their fourth fight Dec. 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In his Monday appearance in Beverly Hills, Pacquiao said he was more confident than ever that a Mayweather deal can be struck in 2013.

“I hope that the fight with Mayweather will be close, to give the fans the fight they want,” Pacquiao said.

When pressed why he felt so confident, Pacquiao just grinned and said, “It’s hard to say,” with Koncz then interrupting to say, “Secret.”

Part of it could be the Pacquiao camp’s hope that striking a co-promotion deal with Mayweather’s associate, rapper 50 Cent, could inspire goodwill that leads to finally finding agreement in a negotiation that has failed in the past over drug testing, purse splits and personal issues.

50 Cent has worked to establish a fight promotion company named after Mayweather’s own title for his entourage, the Money Team.

Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum has also praised 50 Cent’s business sense and personality, part of that being the wishful thinking that the rapper would assert more influence on Mayweather than Arum’s rival promoter, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy, and longtime nemesis Al Haymon, Mayweather’s manager.

“You can speak to 50 in a reasonable way, and he talks back without the insults of calling me a nasty old man,” said Arum, a reference to Schaefer’s recent dig in The Times.

Schaefer has expressed confidence Mayweather will continue to retain Golden Boy for some promotional work. They’ve worked together on every fight since Mayweather defeated Oscar De La Hoya by split-decision in 2007 – the most lucrative fight in history.

Additionally, it’s unclear how tight the friendship of Mayweather and 50 Cent is at the moment. Attempts to reach Mayweather and his advisor Leonard Ellerbe have been unsuccessful.

Comedian D.L. Hughley Calls Lupe Fiasco “Dumb” For Not Voting

Lupe Fiasco has been vocal about his lack of faith in our political system, and President Obama, but according to comedian D.L. Hughley the rapper’s disposition is dangerous.

Reports Hip Hop Wired:

Fiasco, who has taken the commander in chief to task on more than one occasion, announced that he has no plans of voting in the forthcoming election. In the eyes of Hughley, Fiasco has a lot to learn. “He’s bright as hell, but dumb in the weight of the world,” he said in an interview. “Young black men are going to listen to him. They are the ones who have decisions made for them, [decisions] that they are not even involved in, which is silly to me. You can’t go through life and not be a participant, and hope things work out for your benefit. When you vote or not vote, you are saying yes or no.

“They want to raise the age of social security from 65 to 68…Black men die at 67. Lupe Fiasco forgets that he’s going to be an old man when he’s looking for a social security check, and he dies right after he gets it.”

Although Fiasco is not prone to holding his tongue, he has admitted to being flawed. “I’m far from being a knowledgeable and wise young man as well,” he said during a recent performance. “I’m somewhere in the middle. I ain’t no saint either.”

For what it’s worth, Fiasco isn’t the only person in Hip-Hop who’s not afraid to say that they won’t vote. Kendrick Lamar also caused controversy for stating that he “doesn’t believe in voting.”

Chad Johnson To Evelyn Lozada: Honor Our Pre-Nup

In Chad’s divorce filing paperwork, he admits the him and Ev have a prenup that he believes should be enforced — especially the part about who pays for the lawyers.

Reports TMZ:

According to the docs, Johnson wants a judge to BLOCK Evelyn’s request that Chad foot the bill for her legal fees … citing a provision in the prenup in which the two sides agreed to pay their own way if they were to split up.

The divorce has not been finalized yet … but at this point, it’s only a matter of time … and sources close to Evelyn tell us she’s “ecstatic” and ready to move on.

Evelyn and Chad were married back in July … but the honeymoon ended a month later, when Chad allegedly headbutted Evelyn during a heated argument over a condom receipt she found in his car.

In yet another vivid example as to why many of us need to work in “acting a complete Eeyore on reality TV” into our five-year plans, Stevie J. is reportedly working with Mariah Carey and Kanye West. For those familiar, “Steebie” is beyond a bevy of big hits from the 1990s — including Mariah’s “Honey,” which I still sing as if it came out two weeks ago (don’t hate, sing-a-long).

Now he’s getting new opportunities to work with the heavy hitters of music.

Speaking with Hip Hop Wired, the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star revealed, “I’m working on music for Mariah, for Kanye, and for a host of other artists. I’m just gon’ keep producing and get back on my music game, now that television [is] over.”
As for what he’s cooking for Mimi, “You gotta stay tuned,” he quipped.

French Montana Ends Marriage Due To Rising Fame

French Montana just realized that wedding rings are the world’s smallest handcuffs.

Fame always comes with a price, and Bad Boy artist French Montana now understands that first hand. French did an interview with The BoomBox recently, in which he revealed that he’s now split from his wife who he married in 2007. French claimed that his rise to fame caused irreconcilable rifts in their relationship, forcing them to break it off.

“Man I couldn’t do it, that’s why we got separated,” revealed French. “At first it was smooth, but then as much as people think that money changes you, it’s changing them around you. A person ain’t gonna treat you the same now that they think that you think you somebody.”

Of course, Montana said all the newfound attention from sexy women definitely didn’t help the situation either.

“You around so many beautiful women, that’s a conflict too,” he said. “It’s just about finding somebody that understand the game, what you’re into. But then on the flip side of the coin, you gotta understand their game, what they into…There’s a flip side to everything.”

Hopefully the South Bronx rapper can find someone compatible with his current fame.
